A non-profit, professional group of Public Information Officers from
a variety of emergency service organizations throughout Colorado. 



The ESPIOC organization was created in 1986 to bring public information officers and communication professionals together in a professional organization to promote training, networking and the highest level of professional media relations.


Membership is open to anyone serving in a public information role for an emergency service organization in Colorado.  Joining ESPIOC is the fastest way to network with colleagues from other agencies as well as participate in quality training opportunities and other events.

What: Robin Finegan, Regional Administrator, will present ways PIOs can effectively communicate and work with victims following a traumatic event. She worked with emergency responders, clergy, school officials, law enforcement, and mental health and victim services professionals to implement a comprehensive response and recovery plan following the Columbine High School shooting tragedy. Finegan has earned a national reputation for her work as a counselor to victims of terrorism;
she has recently co-authored “Hope Gets the Last Word: Stories that Heal,” a book that chronicles how individuals have recovered from both national disasters and personal losses.
